How to find happiness, self love and confidence

It’s a big question…how do I find happiness?

Some of the most common questions from my clients - how do I find happiness? Self love? Confidence? Empowerment? What we come to realise is that none of these are ‘things’ that you can just walk past on the street and pick up. Yes, they all take work.

You have to be willing to put in the time and energy into yourself to ‘find’ more of these answers. You have to be willing to prioritise YOU!

All of these ‘things’ that you are searching for are actually feelings. So, what you’re really saying is I want to FEEL more self love, more happiness, more confident. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But there is a secret.

All of these things are actually already within you. (I know, eye roll)

Seriously though, you actually already know these answers. It’s just that society has conditioned us to become to busy, so pre-occupied and so focused on people and things outside of ourselves that we have lost touch with what really matters to us.

You have become so conditioned to put your energy outwards of yourself that you have gotten used to under-prioritising yourself.

How can you feel happy or confident when you are consistently thinking about other people and other things?

It’s not actually about how you find happiness, self love and confidence - it’s about getting familiar with what these things actually look and feel like to you. Getting to know yourself again. Treating yourself with as much love and respect as you do others and pushing yourself back up your own priority list.

My most popular podcast episode (listen here on Apple, or here on Spotify) Who Are You? is based around this exact topic. Essentially, what are the things that you identify with? What makes you tick? What do you like and not like? They can feel like really big questions, but when you can start to get more specific you can open up a whole new level of contentment and satisfaction with life because you are doing more of what really makes you feel good.

By doing more of what makes you feel good you feel more happiness, more self love and more confidence.

So you have some homework: go and listen to the Who Are You podcast episode and answer this question: What is one thing I can do today to move towards how I want to feel?

Bonus points - be willing to call yourself out on your excuses. Maybe you know something you can action, but you’ve been giving yourself excuses. They might feel like reasons, but if you can be bigger than your excuses you are one step closer to living the life you really want to live.
