Intuitive Fitness
One of the biggest buzz words to come from 2019 (apart from turmeric and anti-inflammatory) is ‘intuitive’. Everything from intuitive living, intuitive fitness and ‘eating intuitively’.
But what does that even mean?
I’m the first to put my hand up and say that I put too much pressure on myself in the last 12 months to get everything done.
I traveled around America for 3 months from August, so the first half of the year was spent working 3 jobs, doing over-time at my full-time job to get extra money to pay for my trip, sticking to meal plans and adhering to a fitness schedule that I ‘had to’ do. But did I really have to? Do you HAVE to do anything? Or are you doing it because you FEEL like you have to…to tick it off your list of things to do. To impress who? Society? Anyway, that’s another post all together. I’ll get to the point…
My traveling taught me a lot of things, and mostly about myself. I was putting way too much pressure on myself to eat a certain way, look a certain way and at the end of the day, it wasn’t making me happy.
Enter intuitive living.
I have specifically focused on intuitive fitness because I know that I love fitness and I love working out. I love exercise and the way it makes me feel but I also HATE feeling like I have to do something. Like I’m obliged. So, I’m back from America and I’m making a conscious effort to move my body in ways that I WANT to. Not just because I have to get to that gym class to tick it off the list.
So I don’t want to go to that class? Ok, well what DO I feel like doing? How do I want to move my body today? It might be a beautiful day with an amazing sunset and I might choose to go for a long walk or do some outdoor cardio. I might want to skip the class and head home to punch my boxing bag and add in some HIIT. Whatever it is that I choose to do, I do it because that’s exactly what I feel like doing on that day and do you know what…I’ve never been happier with my fitness routine!
So what can you change in your life to live a little more intuitively?
Give yourself a bit of a break…let yourself off the hook and think about what you actually WANT to do. I promise, you will find it empowering!
